Success Stories
Oscar's Story
Oscar the German Shepherd came to us at six months old in an un-socialised state having lived his short life in kennels. He had never experienced human contact and couldn't be petted, never been on a lead and was terrified of everyone and everything.
Having been in foster care for a short time he was found a loving permanent home and we receive regular up dates on his progress - he is now a loving, sociable dog. It is amazing the difference a little TLC can make.
Missy's Story
Missy was advertised 'free of charge' on a local website, she had been used as a back yard breeding bitch, she was in a very poor state. She was kept outside in an unsheltered run. She had terrible ear infections with being constantly wet, matted fur, severely depressed and had no trust in humans whatsoever. She was with the rescue in foster care for approximately one month, when her true character came to the fore. She proved to be brilliant with children, other pets and has now gone to a permanent loving home with two other dogs, and a ten year old boy! Obviously she has been spayed so she will never have to face the horrors of before.
Riley's Story
Riley the Bichon Frise was given up to the rescue by his owner who, due to unforeseen circumstances, could no longer offer him the care he needed. He came into the rescue with his long term friend Sasha the Yorkshire Terrier. Whilst both dogs had lived together for sometime, they truly did not get along and the decision was taken to re-home them separately. After sometime in foster, during which time Riley had 12 lumps removed, his matted fur shaved and a good all round clean, he managed to find a fantastic loving home, a home where they manage to cope with his little eccentricities and love him for them!
Nelly the Battery Hen
Nelly the battery hen was rescued along with 800 of her cage mates by the rescue in September of 2009. As she was taken from her carrying box, she collapsed due to exhaustion, shock and the terrible state she was in. A decision was taken to at least let her feel grass under her feet as it was thought she was not going to pull through. After a wobbly start and a few days of intensive care, she has in fact pulled through. She lives with one of the Rescue Co-ordinators with 27 other ex bats and literally 'rules the roost!'
